• Notes

  "On the other side of the road from Willcutt's saw-mill, in 1810 was a flax-dressing mill, owned and run by Noah and Irani Packard. About 1816, Reuben Hamlen and Otis Pratt built on the same site a factory for the manufacture of satinets and woolen goods. In 1820 the building which is now the Willcutt mill was removed across the road where it now stands. Mr. Pratt sold his share to Erastus Bates, who moving West in 1834 left Mr. Hamlen to manage the mill alone.
